    .A VERY MOIST AIRMASS IS IN PLACE OVER THE MOUNTAINS OF THE
    WESTERN CAROLINAS AND EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA. A ROUND OF HEAVY
    RAIN SHOWERS WILL MOVE NORTHWARD ALONG THE MOUNTAINS IN THE MOIST
    AIRMASS THIS MORNING IN RESPONSE TO A PASSING UPPER AIR
    DISTURBANCE. THEN...SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WILL
    DEVELOP ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND POSSIBLY LINGER
    INTO THE EVENING HOURS. LOCATIONS AFFECTED BY MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF
    HEAVY RAINFALL TODAY COULD EXPERIENCE ISOLATED FLOODING.

    AVERY...BUNCOMBE...BURKE MOUNTAINS...CALDWELL MOUNTAINS...
    GRAHAM...HAYWOOD...HENDERSON...MACON...MADISON...MCDOWELL
    MOUNTAINS...MITCHELL...NORTHERN JACKSON...POLK MOUNTAINS...
    RUTHERFORD MOUNTAINS...SOUTHERN JACKSON...SWAIN...
    TRANSYLVANIA AND YANCEY. IN UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA...

    * THROUGH THIS EVENING.
    * A PASSING UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL INTERACT WITH THE MOIST
    AIRMASS IN PLACE ACROSS THE REGION TO GENERATE HEAVY RAIN
    SHOWERS THIS MORNING. ANOTHER ROUND OF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE
    POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AS SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS
    DEVELOP AS TEMPERATURES WARM. ANY OF THESE SHOWERS WILL HAVE THE
    POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE RAINFALL RATES IN EXCESS OF ONE INCH PER
    HOUR. ISOLATED FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE IN ANY LOCATIONS
    IMPACTED BY MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS. RAINFALL
    TOTALS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE IN A FEW LOCATIONS BY
    EVENING.
    * WHERE HEAVY RAIN OCCURS...SMALL STREAMS WILL RISE RAPIDLY AND
    POSSIBLY FLOOD SURROUNDING AREAS. RISES ARE ALSO EXPECTED ALONG
    MAIN STEM RIVERS. THE HEAVY RAINFALL DURING THIS WATCH PERIOD
    MAY ALSO SET THE STAGE FOR ADDITIONAL FLOODING POTENTIAL LATER
