The problem is not Ms Coggin, she is trying but Eddie Johnson is a loose cannon.
Eddie Johnson needs to resign from the school board & go back to driving school buses.. That would be a real win, win for the county.
Thank you Shakila Henderson-Baker, it is good to see 3 board members interested in NCSS students.
Let's hope the NCSS board picks a Supertendent that can sustain this growth rather than hiring an outsider with no Supertendent experience.
The choice is obvious..1 Candidate has many years of solid Superintendent experience another has no Supertendent experience but has lots of local experience & support. The 3rd has NO Superintendent experience & is Not local. Looks like an easy choice lets hope the school board does what is right for the school system.
"Mathews has said that NCSS plans to add more security measures if a SPLOST referendum is approved in March. The system will be able to add a Viewpath S.A.F.E. camera, audio and silent alarm system for every classroom in every school at a cost $3,850,000"
Is this a joke?
I see over at the other "paper", NCSS has won some other award. How can we win all these awards and still be in the bottom half of a state that is 48th in education? The numbers just don't add up.
The local tabloid said that the cost for armed guards in all schools would be several million dollars, I think that money would be better spent on teacher pay.
I am also opposed to arming teachers & administratprs.
I live in district 1 off 278 & regurarly shoot my shotgun in the back yard, none of my neighbors care because they do the same thing.
Time to move on...We got our moneys worth getting rid of the Carpenters. We need to be sure the NCBOE hires the best supertendent not the one Eddie Johnson wants.
Personally I will vote against the SPLOT & urge the School Board to withdraw the vote until next year so we can see how the Superintendent's hunt works.
