@Covingtonian this is a very successful achievement that hasn't been achieved by anyone else. It can be used as election play or however you want to view it. It was conquered by Sheriff Brown and the employees of the NCSO that will go down in history. You couldn’t wait to make a negative comment on something positive. How can it be used as election play if they have been working to achieve this for the last two years? Stop being a Sheriff "Hater" and get some business about yourself. Let’s see if Newton Citizen will post this, since they are so selective about the comments they post.
Bradford is horrible and I cannot support a man like this sorry!!!! So go right a head "Conservative" you sound a little off anyways...
I believe Sheriff Brown is not thinking dem0cartic or Republican, but is focusing on the better interest of his department and the citizens of Newton County. In 2010 Sheriff Brown was able to obtain the $1 million dollar grant by networking with Republican Senator Isakson who thought highly of him and he was very helpful with supporting Sheriff Brown with information pertaining to this grant. There is no obligation to the county receiving this grant and I feel confident in this grant that they have been awarded. I am certain that the BOC, Sheriff Brown, and the Grant Writers have conducted all needed research to make sure this grant is best for Newton County with no such obligations. To be the only Sheriff office in the state of GA and being selected out of the 221 other law enforcement agencies throughout the nation to receive such a grant is providing factors that he can get the job done and this is not politics related. It’s also evidence of a great effective and efficient leader. I am a Republican and I plan on voting for Sheriff Brown in the general election in November 2012.
Thank You So Much LE4LIFE!!!! Finally someone with Facts and understands how this process works. I totally agree with you on this 100% and wish the Newton County Commissioners office would stop cutting the budget for Sheriff Brown on purpose, because it was never like this the 12 years Joe Nicholas was in office. These Bradford supporters need to conduct their research on their candidate before they go supporting him, because I dare not support someone that shows no experience or ability.
Unfortunately you are wrong and I do not know where you are getting your data from. The Newton Citizen and the Covington Newspaper posted an article about the mission trip and how it was funded. The Sheriff Association funds the trip for the many law enforcement officials that attended. This is a well-known mission tactics trip that many law enforcements officials are given the opportunity to attend. As a matter of fact Mr. Bradford is on one now and I do not see any of you referencing that. It is obvious that no matter how well an individual performs in a political world people always try and find things or stir up false information. From what I am seeing in Newton County at the present time for the election campaigning there is a lot of immaturity with the other candidate’s, because why would you place your signs right beside your running mate. Like really who does that!!! I have also noticed that people are removing Sheriffs Brown Re-Elect signs from the locations that they are placed in and that is illegal and unethical. You all need to grow up and face the world at hand it’s 2012 not 1912. Grow Up and be adults about this. One last thing if Mr. Bradford really desired to be a Sheriff for Newton County and spoke of this with the previous Sheriff Joe Nicholas, than why didn’t he begin panning out that path at that time. Exactly this is all a conspiracy and he was put up to do this, because we all know Stacey Cotton did not want to try again.
I have received information from a reliable source in regards to the Israel trip and no the “Brown family” did not attend. The mission trip was for law enforcement officials to attend the country to learn more about their police tactics and security measures they use to protect their country. The Newton County citizen newspaper ran an article about the trip and the purpose for him going. If you are still unsure go and read about it and view the pictures on his campaign site at http://ezellbrownforsheriff.com/index.html .
Marcusb either you work for the sheriff department or you have nothing else to do, but worry about what the Sheriff is driving. Like who does that…. Secondly what article are you referring to about him not abiding by the budget that has been given to him? Thirdly please conduct a spell check the next time you make another post trying to downplay someone, because “Difinately” is not spelled correctly sir. It’s definitely! I am signing off with May the “Best Man” win.
A new sheriff cannot fix anything that they are unaware of, so that won't resolve any current issues. The duties of the police department and sheriff department are totally different from one another. Even though they both have the same aspects and goals of fighting crime, but the operations are handled totally different. It also seems like the police department is against the sheriff department, but it seems that way in a lot of other county’s as well. I will say the current sheriff has worked hard during his term and I am very proud of him. You may not agree with his choices or the decisions he has to make, but I am proud to say he is my Sheriff. He has been up against many challenges and obstacles during his term, which I feel were unfair. Like reducing the budget for his department, which was very radical. We may not all agree with one another, but the main focus is to keep Newton County safe and he has done that. This is politics and this is the nature of the business to go against each other and throw blows, but it's about working together and improving the county as a whole. I will continue to support the current sheriff, because he has earned it and worked hard for it.
