I couldn't agree more with the consensus that private schools will flourish in Newton County. I question, however, why Hunter Hall is criticized by dennistay53. Like it or not, agree or not, since Hunter came on board with the chamber, business's have been succesfully recruited to Covington and Newton County. When is the last time our county experienced a large scale opportunity for employment? General Mills in 1989? This article is about a private Christian school succeeding in Newton County, not about your opinion of our chamber leadership. Great job Hunter and everyone affiliated with the chamber.

Covingtonian, May I suggest you contact the shelter with your concerns rather than publish them on this forum? All of your concerns are indeed addressed as one enters the shelter. No one is allowed to remain in this shelter long term nor are they allowed to sit around and do nothing. Each person is required to contribute hours of service to the overall operation of this shelter from working in their missions, to cooking, to cleaning, etc. Yes there is a board and yes they do oversee the operations of this mission. Rest assured, no one wants to be homeless but thank God and Clara Lett that those that find themselves in this situation have a place they can go. If you're interested, volunteers are always welcome to help out. We would love to have you come by and you could see first hand how this shelter is ran and overseen.

If it's handled anything like the BOE has handled similar problems in the past, Ms Carpenter will be removed from her Alcovy position but placed as a principal in another school within NCSS. They have a reputation of moving problems instead of removing problems. South Salem is a prime example of this approach.

Zo, would you have the slightest concern if this were a white principal? If this were a white principal would you claim the lawsuit was racially motivated? Would you take the same side? It is about leadership. Leadership laced in nepotism and a leader suing other elected leaders. It so happens that this principal is black and has chosen her actions. Get off the race card and quit blaming other races for problems. I don't see where the race of any of these commentor's has been disclosed so how can you say they're racist? It seems a useless attempt to try to open your eyes to this truth. You have convinced yourself that this matter is racial so I refuse to argue the point with you any longer.

Zo, these are anonymous posts. If anyone wanted to make racial remarks, they would. You are the one making this a racial issue. On behalf of black citizens, please stop! It is truly demeaning to us and sets us back years in our persuit of equality. Stick to the issues. The issue is not race. The issues revolve around leadership which is color blind.

Zo and carefulshawty, your remarks seem racist to me. Think about it, no one else has mentioned race in this blog. For what it's worth, I'm black!
