I think in order to do that the BOE must UNDERSTAND what that means. They don't, which is why no one agrees to zero base the budget. Someone earlier mentioned how it is clear no one here understands how local govt works. Well that begins with the BOE. Most of them don't know either. Next election we need people to start asking these questions. If they can't answer, don't vote for them.

It's not a matterof understanding how local govt works, it's a matter of common sense and economics. People understand this is a vote to continue what has been happening but what has been happening is waste and corruption. Maybe if the Chamber would hit more home runs and work with local officials to attract business here so we could spend here the coffers wouldn't be empty. And maybe if the BOE and superintendent built trust in this community we would have a better attitude. If your child stopped doing chores would you continue to pay him? Of course not

Reading the original document, it appears as though their attorney Ms. Lindsey tried to suppress this from getting out to the public and some in the NCSS tried as well. Not only would I like to know who voted for this but I would like to know who tried to keep it from the public. Isn't it sad that the newspaper had to hire an attorney to force the system to play by the rules and obey Sunshine Laws? What else are they hiding? It is past time for an independent audit of this system by someone at the state level. Unethical behavior is apparently at an all-time high in this system. Wouldn't it be great if every teacher marched on the central office building with a copy of their contract and demanded a release with compensation? It won't happen though because the vast majority of the teachers in this county do the right thing by their students and don't run when the going gets tough.

NCSS could Lise accreditation over stuff like this. SACS has nailed other counties for sketchy personnel incidents

I angrily contacted the BOE member from my district . Was told there was NOT a vote on this. Just a proposal. Laws are being broken and taxpayer money wasted and we demand answers. No more corruption in NCSS! A coupke of peopke are manipulating things behind closed doors. No more!!!!

We all have to learn to budget. NCSS is no different. The system wastes money and gives nothing in return. This past year has been a prime example of how bad it is. They can appoint whomever they like, the answer is still no.

Not only that, but momofone is reading into the report and assuming the teacher just left the phone out. The report says it was "taken from her belongings." I could easily assume the phone was in a filing cabinet in a purse, which has happened in the schools before. If parents and students knew wrong from right we wouldn't need to have Ft. Knox in our schools. Yes it would be nice if the teacher locked everything up but it would also be nice to assume a kid in high school was a decent enough person not to take things from someone's personal belongings. Blame the victim because they didn't think like a criminal. Genius....
