Why? $47,000 is far more than we can afford! This is just a crazy request from as the article says one small business owner. If you want to decorate your building go ahead, but we the taxpayer are not gonna pay for it! Call Hunter Hall thats his job to promote Covington and Newton Co business, thats his job! If you want more place to eat in Covington tell the BOC and City Council to loosen up alchol rules. Thats what keeps us bogged down!
I agree with you and voted NO also. I have been to the BOE meetings and it seems they do not want to worry about the teachers just more admin that command six figure paychecks. We need to stop and look at what our future needs are and go from their! I understand that SPLOST can pay teachers, but buying new computers and a building has shown to not improve much of anything either! Thanks for your efforts Mr. Taylor
I was at this meeting when the Executive Director for School Improvement spoke. Seems he needs to be doing a much better job! He could not even answer basic questions from the BOE with out refering to others for information about enrollment. Maybe we need to see how much improvement he has provided the District. This is another example of waste!!! We need to hire and support our teachers not an Executive Director for School Improvement, maybe he needs to take a trip to Alcovy.
Yes thats true no meeting on the MAR 5.I spoke to Mr. Ellis who told me that a vote on the discharge requirements would take place in April. The BOC has been in viloation of several things, but thats no matter because some members feel they are above the law. One of the main problems is Attorney Craig his bills are out of this world! Let it be known that the District 5 BOC member works at the metal contractor and his family member is listed as owner on tax documents.
Could the SPLOST be used to Buy Out contracts? Hey dennistay53 the BOC said no bonds or loaning money for SPLOST. Yet they are taking $21 Million in new loans for Bear Creek, hold your reps accountable!
Henry You are paying for the purchase of new cars in the current SPLOST. But the cars will be purchased after Mort Ewing's and the Republican Party Cow Palace is built. Seems like our local Republicans enjoy raising our debt by taking all these new loans, And building a DAM to nowhere!
It amazes me that this damage had happened in 2009 almost 4 years later this problem has yet to be fix. Only now with the lives of our children in danger does the BOC act. They put off these repairs because there was no money avaliable to repair the bridge, Now its almost certain that more damage has occured.
You BOC refuses to fix your roads, but some how they manage to build a dam , water treatment plant for Baxter and continue to take out loans to provide for them. We have a commisionare who is running from a House seat citing that he would never vote to increase the DEBT LIMIT! What about all the county debt you voted in this year? Is our debt different?
Glad I am not the only one who thinks Broun crazy! The Citizen has reported that his wife confirms that he will seek the open Senate seat! What a whimp he needs his wife to do his PR and he wants to represent you! Oh dont worry Newtown County John Douglass will be seeking Broun's seat! Heck he claims to have a budget solution but heck he can't even decide on the County mowing contract!
Its ashame that people litter, but that shows you the class people have these days.It seems to amaze me that you can now carry a handgun anywhere in GA , but GOD forbid you light up in a park. I think a gun posses a greater risk than a smoke. I think we should use our common sense, seems most people in power have forgotten that rule!
