I didn't receive a paper on Tuesday, Wednesday - they mailed them. Thursday no paper and they said it would arrive after 2 PM. No Paper. Friday, No Paper and didn't bother contacting as I was advised Monday things would be better. 20 Minutes To Go before the deadline for delivery on my Sunday Paper.... I'm not hopeful.
I am glad to learn that our BOC is making our roads a priority. The roads in many (like where I live) areas a indeed crumbling. The dirt is coming through the ever-widening cracks. I look forward to seeing the list(s) coming out. Thank you BOC!
Where does the difference in salaries come from? A big thank you to Commissioners Sims and Shultz.
I fully support the BOC rollback rate. We will only have the same money that we had last year with this rate. Most, if not all, are paying lower property taxes than 5 years ago due to the drop in property values. My neighborhood is at a level of about 1/3 of the property tax when the homes were built. If the naysayers know where there is more money or where the budget could be cut further, without furloughs that are so detremental, they should be telling us all rather than complaining. Be part of the solution.
I fully support this rollback rate. Everyone I know is paying much less in taxes, even with the rollback rate, than they were 5 years ago due to the drop in property values. This county doesn't have enough money to do the things that need doing, like maintaining roads. The Sheriff's Department has to run events to raise money for the K-9 program and look for grants. Still they are underfunded because there isn't enough money. There are many many roads that need repair and there isn't enough money. The BOC didn't give themselves a raise they made it possible to continue running the county, even without the funds we need. I read that this rollback rate will only bring us to the level of revenues we had last year, and that rate wasn't enough. All of the naysayers have yet to say where the money will come from to run the county. If you know where some waste is that can be cut or where there is money to fix the roads and do all the other things that need doing, speak about that. Don't just complain, do something to help.
I applaud the Commissioners who are talking about increasing revenues. It's a simple matter of math, reason and logic that more funds are needed to support the basic of services. Thank you.
The less expensive plan is still much better than most people have, if they have any insurance from their employers at all.
The property values in my area are 1/3 or less of their original value, as are the tax bills. We've had several years of tax reduction as a result. It's time to bring in common sense thinking. We need more money to run the county effectively. Is there waste that can be cut? Maybe. But there is much more not getting done simply because we don't have the money.
It is my understanding that houses on Springlake Terrace were hit by bullets. I hope the people involved are all caught!
Looks like good news. This site could be of great benefit to the community. I look forward to up to date information also being posted on this new site. Good Work!
