Conservative my response said Thanks to ALL who serve this county and the communities and by the way I am mad. You can put a snake in a dress and it is still a snake an elephant in a suit and it is still an elephant and so on and so on. Conservative I for one am glad these men and women have enough heart to stay here given the fact that not enough people can say Thanks without there being a "but" attached to it. That goes for all who choose public service as a job and that covers everyone. Without the folks who serve then the trash stays piled up, roads won't get repaired and yes the phones go unanswered so yea I am mad and the way I feel alot more should get mad at people like you who always seem to criticize the way someone looks. Next time you get a public servant job stick with it instead of running away when you don't get your way.

Even as I read this I am listening to Channel 2 and see George reporting on lies and misrepresenting facts in the presidential race and have recieved local mail on our local races involving the same. Sad thing is most folks are willing to overlook these lies and propaganda as normal and acceptable behavior. Political parties have been diluted with race issues for so long I wonder how many out there truly remember why the parties exist. Huckaby I do not agree with you always but enjoy and respect your candor and commentary. You ever consider the political arena?
Really Philip? What culture is it you speak of? You say you spoke to the past sheriff but did not comment about what he said. Would it have been that you needed to be a deputy and learn all the different assignments and responsibilities that we are required to do? Did Joe ever tell you he started with the city and that he went to work with the county under then Sheriff Odum then worked up through the ranks to be Chief Deputy under Sheriff Malcom. That took over twenty years to accomplish. Then he was the Sheriff for 12 years. Sheriff Brown started with the city but wanted to be a deputy and worked under Malcom then Nichols then was elected Sheriff. That again took over twenty five years. This type of service to all citizens county wide to include every municipality within it's limits is the culture that you should have been apart of. I will not knock your service to the city but why not stay there and work toward the chiefs job. If that is the culture you want put fourth then continue you career there but wait. Tell the people the truth, that currently you do not meet the stated standards the city has adopted to be the Chief of Police. It would take another five to ten years to accrue the stated educational requirements the city has adopted under the guise of national accreditation plus countless dollars to achieve those degrees of education. A past sheriff once said that the deputies who work here are educated through the school of hard knocks which includes the experience in dealing with every citizen in this county and every culture that is here. As a deputy you soon realize that you cannot impose your culture on anyone that you take an oath to keep the peace and uphold the constitution for all. We fight crime continuously here but as deputies we realize the responsibility of maintaining those individuals who insist on commiting those crimes. which leads me to my closing comment. What experience do you posess in dealing with jail issues and budgetry restraints? Yea part of this culture also. People please vote for the man that currently has the true experience to handle the office of Sheriff. Thanks
Whoa!! Cornered before you go off talking about matters you obviously know nothing about maybe you ought to check on some of that experience you so bodly speak of. As you should know the Sheriff, past and present, gave your guy the authority to operate outside the city limits. As you should know also that he was directed by his Chief and the Sheriff while in that assignment. You forget that he was not the first commander of that unit and he has since moved on. Yes we live in a free country that allows anyone with minimum qualifications to seek a public office but when someone wants to hold the highest law enforcement seat in the county for me it is that person who has commanded the ship or atleast helped row the boat for awhile. Now as for the new cars we paid for. I as a tax payer believe that our deputies need and should have the best equipment available, yes I am sure a raise would be welcome but do you want them driving dangerous vehicles? Accreditation? Maybe you should check and see what has been taking place since this Sheriff has been in office. I agree check on your guy cause I know my choice and he is already there.

You sit in the medical ward and cost us money or did this Capt. Banks bill you for your stay? I wonder did you share that room? Banks said you get no special treatment but we know that putting you with harden criminals could result in you being injured. Oh yea I doubt Chairman Morgan or Sheriff Brown pays for the employees, who are protecting and serving us, meals. So eat up while your there have a couple of county tax payer meals on us. I wonder if that is a conflict of interest? Hey maybe you could be an inmate worker I think they call them trustees.
OK Just one thought, I wonder why someone who has never had any ambition to work for the Sheriff' Office would even begin to convince me that he has the know how to run a sheriff's office. As far as cleaning house, have you ever took advantage of the ride along program and come see first hand what we do? Bet it would change your mind. We are humans performing super human task at times and folks like this want us gone or at the least think they could do it better.
