Blueeyeddevil 2 years, 9 months ago on Jeff Meadors: Teachers should be teaching, not policing bullies

There are plenty of teachers in the school system that are bullies but I won't name any names, and it is a complete shame that it has to be that way. Your right kids are there to learn, and teachers there to teach, but happens when the teacher is not teaching and they are being bullies then what do we do, I know what the school doesn't do they don't take the child seriously and it all falls back on them. Oh little johnny must be lying again because his parents didn't teach him right, well little Johnny hasn't been in trouble a day in his whole school career then one bad apple spoils the whole thing. I know a couple of teachers just like this and it is very sad that they would rather bully then teach.

It is a shame when a guy comes back from a leave and is making more then a firefighter. I mean 120 thousand dollars for a principal, granted the guy just got back from Afghanistan and I'm sure that it was hell, but to get to come back and get 120 thousand dollars ontop of that is very distracting, and I'm sure has made a good few of people mad. So what do people do about this? Well I guess we could all sit around and complain about it or we could complain to the right people and see if it changes anything. I know as a taxpayer it upsets me a great deal about it but im one person. It seems like inside strings are being pulled to make this happen, hey I maybe wrong but it seems awfully funny for this guy to be making this kind of money when teachers who really deserve money like that never see it in a life time. Come on people open your mouths and say something just don't sit back and take it.

Why has the school board allowed this conflict of interest to exist. I asked one and they told me the principals report to the superintendent. But principals make hiring decisions all the time and that hiring falls under the deputy superintendent so if that is the case then the whole hiring process is contaminated. Case in point would be that Alcovy High will have preferential hiring or prejudiced hiring in terms of possible nepotism with friends, relations from former counties (check the records even in maintenance) and family. I looked up with the GA School Assn and know of no other county where this conflict is allowed even it the law allows it.

I know Dr. Matthews will find the right principals whether they come from Newton or another county or state. Thank you Mr. Meadors for coming to our school for Dr. Barge's visit and for holding your forums and keeping us informed through regular news articles. Mr. Peck would make a great theme school principal but we don't want him to ever leave HME
