Special Photo Discount Tire, a tire and wheel retailer, announced the opening of its new store at 1665 Ga. Highway 138 S.E. in Conyers, near the crossroads of Ga. 138 and Old McDonough Road. It’s operated by 10 employees and is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays.

Special Photo At Philips Arena. Rockdale Medical Center employee Vanessa Dameron is congratulated by Milton J. Little Jr., president of United Way, for her outstanding leadership in coordinating Rockdale Medical Center’s annual United Way campaign. Out of the 1,000 Atlanta area organizations that participated in the 2012 annual campaign, only five volunteer leaders, including Dameron, were honored as Be Greater Atlanta Outstanding Employee Campaign Manager/Leadership Chairs. In 2012 under Dameron’s leadership, through fundraisers and employee donations, Rockdale Medical Center raised just more than $35,000 in support of the United Way, representing a 50 percent increase over last year’s result.
