With his quiet and stately demeabnor, P.J. will make a great companion for just about any family. P.J. is a 1-year-old Great Pyrenes mix who is extremely friendly and walks well on a leas. According to the American Kennel Club, this breed of dog is affectionaate, quite and tolerant. He is at his best when he has something to guard and protect. P.J. can be adopted at the Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514.
