Anyone looking for a sweet little kitten need look no further than the Newton County Animal Shelter this week. Jimmy is a domestic long-hair tabby kitten who just about 8 weeks old. He is bright-eyed and eager to come home to play and explore. To learn more about Jimmy or any of the pets ready for adoption, visit the Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal amount of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. To 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. To 1 p.m. On Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
