Photo detail

Salem United Methodist Church was just one of several properties that were affected by the frigid temperatures. The church received a phone call Monday afternoon that there was an alarm going off in the Family Life Center. Once some of the staff reached the culprit, the sprinkler system behind the stage, water came flooding out on the floor of the downstairs area. Luckily only about two-thirds of the floor and one of the classrooms were affected, but it took at least 12 air movers to help dry out the floor. Pastor Joe Peabody Jr. stated that things could have been a lot worse, but he was thankful it happened to the church and not to any of the church families. Regular church services will not affected by the leak, as most of the Sunday school classrooms are housed on the second floor of the Family Life Center. (Staff Photos: Julie Wells)
