This little lady, aptly named Frenchie, is ready to come home to a loving family. Frenchie is a poodle and is believed to be 1 or 2 years old. She is very friendly and was picked up on Aug. 22 as a stray by an animal control officer Frenchie can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514.
