Photo detail

Oliver is looking for a home where he can love and be loved. This domestic longhair cat is 5 years old and is extremely friendly. He had been adopted by an elderly man, but because Oliver is so friendly, when he rubbed around his legs, it caused the man to fall. The owner was very upset to return Oliver and is hopeful he can find a new home soon. Oliver can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. (Special photo)
