Photo detail

This black-eyed baby girl just couldn't be cuter. She's been named Twinkles because of that special glint in her eyes. Twinkles is a Chihuahua-Dachshund mix and has 3 other siblings just as cute as she is. The puppies are 9 weeks old and will probably weigh a sturdy 15 pounds when fully grown. Before adoption they will be up-to-date on worming and shots. One or all of them can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
