Stephanie Crawford, who works in the kitchen at Middle Ridge Elementary, takes out another tray of pears, tangerines and pineapple with kiwi slices to put in the food line for the students getting lunch. She makes a fresh fruit and vegetable basket Monday through Thursday and puts it out for all to take what they want.

Newton schools honored for serving more local food
The Newton County School System was one of 25 school districts in the state honored for increasing the amount of local food served to students.
