Photo detail

Fred is a Dachshund-mix and is estimated to be about a year old. He was picked up as a stray and is hoping someone will come soon and take him to a nice comfortable home. He weighs between 20 and 25 pounds and will not get much bigger, although he could stand to put on a few pounds. He's up-to-date with his shots and worming. He can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
