Photo detail

Roscoe, a Shih Tzu/Poodle-mix, has his cool summer hairdo and is ready to head to a new home. He's 3 years old and weighs a mere 15 pounds so he's good as a companion to watch TV or even go for a walk. He'll take some grooming, but he'll be worth it. He's up-to-date on shots and can't wait to meet his new family. He can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
