Photo detail

Above, although the festival is closed, the Sunflower Farm is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays until July 14. Visitors can pick sunflowers from a 15-acre field, tour the farm and shop from a country market. At right, a chance of rain and periods of rain showers didn’t stop the crowds from attending the Sunflower Farm Festival over the weekend. Residents from all over the state — and even beyond the borders — visited the Rutledge farm Saturday and Sunday to pick sunflowers, eat barbecue, listen to Bluegrass music and visit with arts and crafts vendors from around the state. Pictured is Ralph Donaldson of The Broom Brothers of Laurens County in south Georgia, which makes handmade brooms and whisks.
