The Newton County Special Olympics Equestrian Team recently went to the state competition in Perry. They received a combined total of 30 first-place medals, nine-second place, five third-place, one fourth-place, two fifth-place and one sixth-place at the show. They competed in Equitation, Dressage, Western Riding, Trail, Western Horsemanship, Showmanship and Unified Drill Team classes. Pictured are riders Michael Roper, Elyse Keup, Travis Ransom, Lucy McDonald, Beau Worley, Gabrielle Crews, Aislin Gates, Celeste Hall, Taylor Bradley and Cory Conrad; riders not pictures are Will Franklin, Nick Slade, Tyler Stoddard and Josh Spink.
