Photo detail

This honey-colored girl is a real honey! Lucy is an adult dog of undeterminable age, and she has all the best characteristics of a Lab, no doubt a strong component in her ancestry. She is said to be very sweet, strong and sassy and will doubtless easily fit into a new family home. She weighs about 60 pounds and is anxious to get her new life under way. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photos by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
