Photo detail

This lovely lady is aptly named Brittany. Believed to be a Cocker Spaniel-mix, there is doubtless some Brittany Spaniel in her lineage. Her white and tan coloring highlights her kinship to this breed. She weighs in at 15 pounds and could stand to put on a few pounds so she's looking for a owner that can keep her full and warm during the coming winter months. Believed to be about 2 years old, she'd make a lovely family pet. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photos by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
