Photo detail

Pierre is a Poodle-mix and comes clothed in a colorful sweater. A male, believed to be about 2 years old, he's looking for a nice warm lap near a fireplace until his hair grows out a bit. He only weighs about 15 pounds and would quickly become a loving member of any family. He's up-to-date on all vaccines and shots and is ready to go to his new home. He can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photos by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
