Porterdale Police Chief Geoff Jacobs accepts a check for $900 earmarked to purchase a safety vest for the department's K-9 officer. Making the presentation is Cheryl Allen with Project Paws Alive which raised funds and purchased the vest. Looking on is K-9 handler Lt. Jason Cripps with Nina, the K-9 officer which the vest was specifically made for. The vest will protect Nina from gun shots, stabbings and other blunt force trauma such as being kicked, punched or beaten with a weapon. The presentation was made at a recent Porterdale City Council meeting. For more information about Project Paws Alive, go to www.ProjectPawsAlive.org. - Special photo
