The spelling competition was tense during times, especially for Clements Middle School seventh-grader Casey Roberson. In Round 8, he was the only student out of four to spell his given word correctly. However, the rules state that in that instance, a special round must be held with all of the contestants from that round. He ended up taking the runner up spot.
