This little beauty is aptly named Princess and she's sure to make the hearts of any family her kingdom. A Beagle-mix, she's only 1 year old and is just right to take into a home too busy for all the puppy training. She weighs about 20 pounds and is near her adult weight. She's had all shots and been wormed is set for a new adventure. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.-Staff photo by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
