This little guy is a bit overwhelmed at finding himself in a great big shelter locked in a cage when he's used to being snuggled up in someone's lap. He's desperately seeking another loving home since he was found wandering as a stray. He's been named Poncho and is believed to be a Chihuahua/Pomeranian-mix. A really, sweet and calm little dog, he's probably only a year old or maybe a little younger. He'd loved to be a part of a family once more. He's been vaccinated an wormed and can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.
