This redhead took her name from another redhead who was always getting into mischief. She's been dubbed Lucy and is temporarily staying at the Newton County Animal Shelter. She and another goat were found wandering in the roadway, but when Animal Control officers showed up to try and corral the pair, one ran into the woods and disappeared. A Pygmy goat, she's an adult, and appears to have a smile on her face, but nothing else is known about her. She'd like a home with other goats and sealed bids are now being accepted at the shelter located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington until noon on June 22. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photos by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
