Photo detail

Cotton has put on her most bewitching smile in the hopes of attracting a new family. She's believed to be about 2 years old and looks to have a little Poodle and some Cocker Spaniel in her ancestry. Weighing only 10 pounds, she was found wandering and certainly deserves a new life. She'd make an excellent family pet. She can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photos by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
