Photo detail

We could all use some Snow to give us some relief from this July heat wave and here he is. This Great Pyrenees male, approximately 10 to 12 months old, is named Snow and is considered to be "a gentle giant." He's friendly with other dogs and could use some good nutrition to complete his growth. He will require a little attention to his grooming and then he'll be a beautiful canine. A good family dog, he can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal.- Staff photos by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
