Photo detail

This little guy has been named Dr. Pepper. He's a cute little rascal at only 8 weeks old and is guaranteed to look even better with age. He's labeled a Border Collie-mix and will soon be herding whatever he can find. He's asking Santa for a new home for Christmas. He's ready to go with his needed shots and deworming already taken care of. Estimated to weigh about 40 pounds as an adult, he can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photos by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
