This little guy is so cute he looks like he could be making a buck as a calendar model. Named Jocko, he's believed to be a Jack Russell/Beagle-mix and has two male litter mates also available for adoption. The trio were found on the side of the road where they had apparently been dumped. They are about 8 weeks old and have had shots and been wormed. Jocko and his brothers can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photo by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith
