Photo detail

This fluffy guy, obviously a Pomeranian, was found wandering the streets alone. He only weighs 6 pounds, so it must have looked like a big, scary world out there. He has a bad right eye, but he manages just fine. He's an adult, probably over 5 years old, but he's got a lot of spark left in him, which is why he's been dubbed Sparky. He'd like a soft lap to sit on and a lot of love. He can be rescued and adopted at Newton County Animal Shelter, located at 210 Lower River Road in Covington. The shelter usually has between 20 to 30 dogs and an equal number of cats eligible for adoption. The adoption fee for a dog or puppy is $25 and $10 for a cat or kitten. Spaying/neutering is mandatory for all animals. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is 770-786-9514. Anyone who has lost a pet is urged to go to the center and bring a photo of the missing animal. - Staff photo by Sue Ann Kuhn-Smith y
