The chicken will be fresh, but the expertise has been building for 40 years. The Covington Lions Club is once again inviting the public to participate in their 40th Annual Chicken BBQ on Wednesday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Academy Spring Park Pavilion on Conyers Street. Tickets are now available from any Lion or at the door. Plates are $7 each and include a half-chicken cooked over an open pit on site, slaw, bread, chips and iced tea. Desserts will be available for a donation. A drive-through pick-up will be open at the Legion Hall parking lot across the street. Employers or other large groups are encouraged to place orders of 25 or more which can be delivered. Call 770-860-1414 to place the order. For more information go to www.covingtongalion.org. The fundraiser will benefit Georgia Lighthouse Foundation and other organizations dedicated to helping the visually impaired. Used eyeglasses, hearing aids and cell phones will be collected and those attending the event are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the homeless. - Citizen file photo
