The Newborn Town Council has approved a millage rate of 1.935, the same as for the prior fiscal year. The millage rate is set for July through June, to be on target with the county's schedule, though the town operates on a calendar year.
NEWBORN -- The town of Newborn is increasing water rates due to rising costs of wholesale water purchases from Newton County.
NEWBORN -- Great progress has been made in cleaning up Newborn following an F1 tornado that touched down to the west of the town and produced winds of up to 105 mph Thursday morning, according to Mayor Roger Sheridan.
NEWBORN -- The Newborn Town Council has approved an ordinance regulating discharging of firearms.
Newborn officials are working to change an ordinance that allows residents to discharge firearms if they are at least 150 feet from a neighbor's property or the street.
The town of Newborn has sent a letter of intent to Norfolk Southern Corporation stating "our strong interest in purchasing the railroad right of way to Rails to Trails in Newton County."
