Fire department investigates two service station fires
The Covington Fire Department is investigating two fires at area service stations in the early morning hours Sunday and Monday. One fire occurred the Pure gas station at the intersection of Emory Street and Old Atlanta Highway around 1 a.m. Sunday and a witness reported seeing a black male running from the area, according to the Covington Police Department. The second fire occurred at the Pure gas station at the intersection of West Street and 278, and according to a CPD incident report, there was a hole in a window where it appeared someone has thrown gasoline through it to ignite the building.
