Rotary helps out Haitians

The Rotary Club of Covington recently contributed $5,000 to a project that will provide as many as 4,000 temporary shelters to Haitians impacted by the magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck the island nation last month. Mike Freeman, center, member of a Shelter Box Emergency Response Team, spoke to the club recently about Rotary's efforts to supply Shelter Boxes to Haitians. Club members presented Freeman with a check for $5,000 that will go toward the Shelter Box effort. Shown presenting the check to Freeman are Alice Queen, president of the Rotary Club of Covington, and Lanier Sims, who heads World Community Service projects for the club.
