Alcovy boys, Eastside girls win Newton Cup

The Newton Cup has a new home after Alcovy defeated the Eastside boys for the first time in its 10-year history. The girls cup had a battle for second place with Newton almost coming back from an eight-stroke deficit while the Eastside girls easily retained the cup after the two-day tournament ending at The Oaks Course on Monday.

Mathis inks with Brevard College

After spending some time deciding his best plan of action Eastside’s Quintrell Mathis came to the decision to play football at Brevard College in Brevard, N.C. As a senior wide receiver, Mathis led the Eagles averaging 17.9 yards per reception catching 13 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns.
