Fans of womens basketball have a great opportunity coming up at Salem High School.
The Atlanta Dream of the WNBA will hold a practice at Salem on June 10 from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m., though there’s plenty more taking place that night in Conyers.
The Dream, which opened their 2014 season last weekend with wins over San Antonio and Indiana, will also participate in a question-and-answer session and fans will have a chance to win autographed merchandise and other prizes and Salem will also provide plenty of giveaways for those in attendance.
Fans who purchase a $20 ticket to the event will not only get to watch the Dream practice, but get to choose one, lower-level ticket to an upcoming Dream game at Philips Arena.
The Dream opened play in the WNBA with its expansion season in 2008 and after not reaching the postseason in year one, have reached the playoffs in five consecutive seasons, including three trips to the WNBA Finals (2010, 2011 and 2013).
Atlanta was swept in three games by the Minnesota Lynx in last summer’s finals.
Salem is coming off the finest season in the program’s history. Despite not being able to defend its Region 8-AAAAA title by losing to Clarke Central in the league tournament finals, the Seminoles made a run to the state quarterfinals for the first time, losing to eventual state champion Tucker.
