City linemen burned by electrical spark

COVINGTON — Two linemen with the city of Covington were burned Friday as a result of a spark from a power line.

Covington Electric Department Director Tim Morris said the crew was conducting regular construction near the Covington Municipal Airport on City Pond Road when there was a flash.

“No one came in contact with the power line, but there was a spark, which caused burns on two men,” Morris said. “We took them to Grady Memorial Hospital’s burn center and they were released later Friday night.”

Morris did not identify the two linemen, but said both employees returned to the office Monday morning and the city continues to investigate what caused the spark.
