10 students, parent arrested in Ga. high school brawl

RIVERDALE — Clayton County school police officials said 11 people, including one parent, were arrested Tuesday about noon during a brawl at Charles Drew High School.

Spokeswoman Vicki Gavalas said two female students and their parents were meeting with administrators to solve differences between the girls. One parent left before a skirmish broke out during the meeting. The confrontation escalated when it moved into the front office and other students, mostly female, joined in, she said.

An assistant principal and school resource officer were injured trying to break up the fight, said Gavalas. The two, who were not immediately identified, were treated at the school.
