After being an important part of a great run for the Salem girls basketball team, Taylor King is set to continue her career at the next level.
King, who will graduate from the Conyers school this weekend, recently signed an athletic scholarship with Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee.
King was one of three guards, along with rising seniors Shay Tarver and Rosie Kyles, who helped the Seminoles reach the state playoffs in three consecutive years, including an Elite 8 appearance-the school’s first-ever state basketball quarterfinal for boys or girls-this past season.
The Division II Dragons, who play in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, should be able to use King’s defense and outside shooting ability. A year ago, Lane allowed an average of nearly 74 points (11th in the SIAC) and hit just 25 percent (95 of 381) of its 3-point attempts and 32 percent of its shots overall (last in the league) in finishing 2-20 overall and 1-14 in the conference’s West Division.
