The annual East Side Scottish Rite JROTC awards ceremony was held recently at the Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge No. 6. The awards ceremony was attended by: Wayne Glass, 33rd Scottish Rite, Valley of Atlanta; Joseph P. Suttles, 33rd, PGM; Ross Laver 32nd KCCH-Valley secretary; Mike Kesler 32nd KCCH, executive director; Roger Wise 32nd KCCH Masonic Ambassador; Lt. Col. Kurt P. Felpel, University of Georgia; Capt. Donna L. Styles — Navy; and Brigadier General Eddie Jackson, Army and Heritage High School graduate serving as guest speaker and presenter.

The award winners were chosen for the Outstanding Achievements and Essays are as follows: Christopher Lightsey of Newton High School; Celeberty Chepel Hamer of Salem High School; Marquavius Lampkin of Heritage High School; Maria Campos of Rockdale County High School; Phillip Brown of Loganville High School; Andrew Fielding of Monroe Area High School; Cole Jones of Walnut Grove High School; Timothy James Chittum of Social Circle High School and Callie Peace of Morgan County High School.
