“I would like to commend the young man for his efforts with the umpire. But the media has it wrong, those were not off duty EMTs that were helping, maybe one of them was, but the young lady who was giving the CPR was put in place by Dr. Renee Riley’s office as an Athletic Trainer, that was Ms. Brandy from Alcovy. It sure does make me feel good to know that we have such qualified personnel on the grounds at these sporting events to help our children and our umpires.”

“Someone commented on the trashed-up highways and byways of Newton County. If you want to see it get better, you have to become involved. Call Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful and ask what you can do to make our roadways and highways better. There is a huge clean-up this Saturday, March 29, with hundreds of volunteers participating, maybe you should get involved instead of just talking.”

“So now three more employees have left a county position. How many more is going to leave before the county officials realize they are about to have no one to take advantage of and no one who wants a county job due to their actions.”

“Aren’t facts wonderful? The Senate Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging held a hearing recently on what the U.S. health care system can learn from other countries, where single-payer health care was discussed. The following is an excerpt of an exchange between Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Danielle Martin, a Canadian physician and health policy professor. Burr came at Martin with a number of questions, pointed questions. But Martin had answers. ‘Dr. Martin, in your testimony you note that Canadian doctors exiting the public system for the private sector has had the effect of increasing waiting lists for patients seeking public health care,” Burr said. “Why are doctors exiting the public system in Canada?” “Thank you for your question, senator,’ Martin said. ‘If I didn’t express myself in a way to make myself understood, I apologize. There are no doctors exiting the public system in Canada, and in fact we see a net influx of physicians from the United States into the Canadian system over the last number of years.’ Later on, Burr asked Martin: ‘On average, how many Canadian patients on a waiting list die each year? Do you know?’ ‘I don’t, sir, but I know that there are 45,000 in America who die waiting because they don’t have insurance at all,’ Martin said. Keep in mind it was Reagan who said facts are stupid things! You can watch the whole hearing on YouTube.”

Next week: the 10 things that are right with Newton County.”

“Good story on Tommy Craig’s outrageous charges and BOO on Schulz for supporting the mess, but doesn’t he make enough on taxpayers backs to pay the nearly one million in liens at the courthouse? It is public knowledge in the courts.”

——

“Gross, the Mystic Grill failed its March 20, 2014, health score. Shut the doors!”

——

“This old man has three thoughts. Will the media attack the Mystic Grill for failing health inspections as harshly as they did the food Depot? Do our trashy highways have any hope with Keith Ellis as chair? How can Nancy Schulz defend the money spent on Craig?”

——

“Thanks to spend-our-money Nancy Schulz for public comments on the insane 700K paid to Tommy Craig, but her liberal approach is a failing one. Why is Douglas allowing this when he pretends to guard taxpayer wallets? Where is Levie? Cat got your tongue?”

——

“The whole BOC is a sham, but Nancy Schulz’s lousy defense of $700,000 to Craig is the reason we need term limits.”
