Rockdale tennis handles Lovejoy

The Rockdale tennis teams stayed perfect in league play Tuesday, toppling Lovejoy 5-0 in both boys and girls play.

The Bulldogs didn’t lose a point in the boys match. The top three singles players - Patrick Sanders (No. 1). Trey Hull (No. 2) and No. 3 Logan Hull all won 8-0, while the No. 2 doubles team of Abenet Addisu and Bruce Mitchell also picked up an 8-0 victory and the No. 2 doubles team (Tyyon Anthony and Aaron Barron) won by forfeit.

In girls singles play, Rockdale got an 8-0 win from No. 1 Summer Walker, an 8-1 victory from No. 2 Destiny Commodore and a forfeit victory out of No. 3 Tiara Anthony.

Abby Bradford and McKenna Comiskey won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles and the No. 2 doubles team (Aliyah Byrd and Sydney Norton) also secured an 8-2 win.

Rockdale hosted Morrow in its final regular season region match Wednesday in matches that ended too late for this edition.

Pats drop a pair to ELCA

Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy handed Heritage a pair of non-region losses Tuesday, winning 3-2 in boys play and 4-1 in the girls match.

The No. 1 doubles team of Kevin Blum and Levi Lund and No. 2 singles player Ronnie Flow picked up victories for the Patriots in the boys match. In girls play, Fran Murry was the only winner for Heritage, picking up a victory at No. 2 singles.

Heritage, which has both teams at 5-2 in Region 8-AAAAA, will host Salem today at 4 p.m.

Rockdale golf upends Lions

The Rockdale golf team improved to 5-2 Tuesday with a 195-215 victory over Luella at Cherokee Run Golf Club.

Ahmad Williams shot the low score for the Bulldogs with a 44, while Brandon Lee shot a 46, Matt McLain a 49 and Cameron Rivers and Malik Moville each added a 51.

Rockdale returns to the links today against Alcovy at Cherokee Run. Alcovy was victorious 169-184 in the two teams previous match.
