The Georgia State softball team was defeated by No. 20 UL-Lafayette 13-0 in five innings on Sunday at Bob Heck Field.

ATHENS — Both the Heritage and Salem track teams had good outings with several top finishes in the Loch Johnson track meet at Cedar Shoals on Saturday.

In the boys meet, Heritage’s Dayo Akindele had two first-place finishes winning the 110-meter in a time of 14.93 seconds and the triple jump with a distance of 46-feet, 10 inches.He also came in third in the long jump with a distance of 21-feet, 1-inch.

Rontavious Banks was the fifth person to cross the finish line in the 400 with a time of 50.85 seconds with Malik McCrary coming in seventh in the 1,600 with a time of 4:45.02.

Finishing in sixth place were Titus Lucas in the 100 (11.49 seconds) and McCrary in the 3,200 (10:26.63). McCrary also had a seventh place finish in the 1,600 with a time of 4:45.02.

Heritage’s relay team also had a pair of fifth-place finishes. They ran the 4x100 in 43.36 seconds while running in the 4x400 in 3:38.22.

Salem’s Quintis Maddox gave the boys a second and seventh place finish in field events with Devin Nevett coming in fourth and sixth on the track.

Maddox came in second in the discus with a distance of 153-10 while throwing the the shot put 41-feet, 4-inches.

Kanome McIntosh ran the 200 in 22.95 seconds for fifth place.

As a team, the 4x400 relay squad finished in second with a time of 3:29.

Morgan Hubbard had a good day for the Heritage girls coming in first place in the hurdles. She ran the 100 with a time of 15.38 seconds while running the 300 in 46.51 seconds.

Heritage’s Valencia Williams came in third in the 300-hurdles in 51.09 seconds while coming in third in the 400 with a time of 1:00.62.

With a pair of fourth place finishes was Mia McLean running the 200 in 27.17 seconds and the long jump in 16-05.

Finishing in sixth place were Nia Woolford and Erin Carter, Woolford threw the discus 84-08 with Carter running the 800 in 2:27.46. Feree Buck also scored for the Heritage girls coming in eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 6:05.66.

The Hertiage girls also had a couple of runner-up finishes coming in second in the 4x100 (49.35) and the 4x400 (4:16.81).

The best finish for the Salem girls, fourth, came from the 4x100 relay team crossing the line in a time of 50.72.

Charli Morrow came in fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:03.14 while Saaliyah Greene came in sixth in the 100 with a time of 13.47.

As a team, both Heritage squads came in fifth place with the boys scoring 67 points while the girls had 48.

The Salem boys had an eighth place finish overall with 31 points with the girls coming in 13th with 12 points.

Winning the boys meet was Cedar Shoals with 101 points followed by Archer (94) and Athens Christian (76). The top girls score was obtained by Archer with 125.5 points with North Oconee coming in second with 90 and Cedar Shoals finishing third with 75 points.
