CONYERS — A longtime Conyers business is breaking ground this week on a new building that will expand its operations and is expected to bring another 50 jobs to the area.
On Friday, Audit Services Incorporated, or ASI, announced its plans to construct its third building, a 5,200-square-foot facility on Eastview Parkway that will mirror one of the two buildings already there.
John Hall, president and CEO of ASI, said he is excited to expand the business in Conyers.
“We have another office in Alpharetta, but our executive team lives in this area, and we would rather expand locally,” Hall said on Friday.
The company is investing between $750,000 and $800,000 into its expansion and the construction will be completed by Newton County-based Sunbelt Builders. He said he expects it will take about five or six months to complete the construction and the office should be fully staffed within 18 months.
Hall has been with ASI nearly since its inception in 1998 and has seen the company grow.
“I was the sixth employee with ASI and now we have 200 employees,” he said. “With this expansion, we will have 250 employees in the company.”
Most of the company’s administrative staff is based in Conyers and overall about one-half of ASI’s employees are in Georgia. About 43 percent of the company’s workforce works remotely from 19 different states, Hall said.
Marty Jones, executive director for the Conyers-Rockdale Economic Development Council, said it is gratifying to work with local businesses that want to expand their operations here.
“This is one reason I took this job because I believe in this community, and having someone like John who believes in it as well justifies that belief in Conyers and Rockdale County,” Jones said.
While it can cause a big splash when a large corporation chooses to relocate to a new area, the expansion of an existing business is a testament to the community, he said.
“I think it’s more important to help folks who are here grow and expand their business and we can show our appreciation to them that we as a community are here for them and support them,” Jones said.
ASI works with insurance companies and processes automobile and property claims in all 50 states, U.S. territories and in Canada. The company reviews estimates and negotiates the cost of repairs on behalf of the insurance companies with body shops or contractors.
ASI uses propriety management systems and auditors have access to the latest electronic appraisal, imaging, repair techniques, database and reporting tools to verify every line of an auto or property estimate to guarantee the accuracy of repairs, the company stated.
ASI processes more than 318,000 files in 2013 and hit the millionth claim mark last year, Hall said.
A formal groundbreaking ceremony is schedule for 10 a.m. on Friday at the ASI campus on Eastview Parkway.
