Bulldogs tennis squads sweep Luella 5-0

Rockdale’s tennis team swept and blanked Luella’s boys and girls squad going 5-0 in Thursday’s match.

The Rockdale boys improved their record to 12-2 with the girls going 11-2. Both teams are perfect in Region 2-AAAAAA play going 4-0.

“We stayed focused and took care of business,” Rockdale head coach Stephen Samsing said. “The lineup is starting to solidify, which is good, since we have a big two weeks coming up before spring break.”

Rockdale’s boys No. 2 singles Trey Hull, No. 3 singles Logan Hull and the No. 2 doubles team of Aaron Barron and Tyyon Anthony were perfect in the matches going 8-0.

Patrick Sanders, at No. 1 singles, and the No. 1 doubles team of Abenet Addisu and Bruce Mitchell won their matches 8-1.

Rockdale No. 1 girls singles Summer Walker had no trouble against Luella’s Natilee Morean getting the 8-0 win.

Both doubles teams, Abby Bradford and Tiara Anthony at No.1 and Alliyah Byrd and Sydney Norton at No. 2, lost a set winning their match 8-1.

Luella’s No. 2 and No. 3 singles, Haley Wooten and Emma Olson, won two sets but they were no match for Rockdale’s No. 2 singles Destiny Commodore and No. 3 singles McKenna Commiskey as Rockdale went on to win 8-2.
