Heritage out-shot the host Bulldoggs 24-7.

“(Winder) never really threatened,” said Heritage coach Chad Suddeth.

Winder-Barrow (2-7, 1-3) has given up 14 goals during its current four-game losing streak.

Baseball: Newton 7, Alcovy 2

Tristan McInerny had three hits and four others had two hits apiece in the Rams’ win over their Region 2-AAAAAA and county rival.

Allen Bowen and Daniel Croom had two hits and two RBIs and Shawn Guckenberger (two singles) and Auliver Astin (triple, single) helped Newton (7-6, 3-1) go up 6-0 and cruise to its fourth consecutive game. The Rams have scored 42 runs during the streak.

“Guys have bought in with the approach at the plate that we teach: keeping their hand(s) back and being willing to go opposite field,” said Newton coach Andre Byrd on the Rams’ recent offensive production. “

Tyler Page struck out five in five shutout innings as the Bulldogs romped in Clayton County.

Malachi Eskin reached base three times and drove in a pair of runs and Jordan Davis (double) and Willie Hardeman (triple) drove in a run each for Rockdale (8-5, 2-1 Region 2-AAAAAA).
